Hi. As you may have anticipated when you entered www.karichapin.com into your browser, or clicked on my About tab, I am Kari Chapin. I’m glad you’re here and I’m glad I’m here too.
This is a short note from me to you mostly about me and why I like you. I write books for creative entrepreneurs that help them feel better about being in business. After all, no one decides, “Hey! I’m gonna start a business because I want to create a crap life for myself!”
With that priceless nugget in mind, I decided to make it my mission to do all I could to help people do work they like and to make a life they love.
I don’t just write though. I do consulting for the right people and/or companies, both large and small, to help re-energize them. You can check out what they have to say about working with me by clicking here. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! I teach and speak all over the beautiful USofA (Hey! Please invite me to your far away exotic locale and I will then be able to say I speak and teach all over the world!)
I really like this work I’ve created for myself and mostly that’s because of YOU. I really like you. I like your spirit. I like how creative you are. I like your shoes. I feel good when I’m helping people or when I’m napping. (I like to help people before and after the naps.)
So to sum up, if you like books and want to have a better business, I sell books. If you need to brainstorm or re-envision your business or get clarity on your direction, call me maybe. If you need to book a speaker for your event or would like to hire me to teach, you’re in luck. I love to do both, and you can hire me.
Because everyone wants a little insider and personal information about people in these things, I will tell you that my life is on display on Instagram. I live in beautiful Portland, Oregon with my incredibly talented and super adorable husband. We have two dogs. I love paper products and office supplies in a possibly unhealthy way. I like coffee. I don’t know any magic tricks. I’m a Virgo. I like to laugh a lot and I snort when I do it. I like to embroider. I am really happy when I am in the kitchen. I love lists. Truthfully, I could talk about myself all day, but I’m going to stop now.
Let’s be friends,
I love to talk to people. It’s actually my favorite thing to do. I write books, and that makes me happy, but my favorite parts of writing a book are the opportunities that come from writing the book – and my favorite opportunity is speaking.
I come alive before an audience. I mean it. I feel like I’m flying when I get to talk about what I love in front of a group of people. These people could be students, your employees or an audience at a conference or members of your club or guild.
I have spoken at conferences, both big and small, colleges and universities, guilds and clubs, to retailer associations, companies privately owned and companies that are corporately owned. I help:
- teach creative professionals how to understand how to create or engage the community following they already have
- support creative businesses who are trying to grow interest in what they do
- rejuvenate and refresh the creative energy of teams in organizations of all sizes
I am comfortable making digital presentations and use both Keynote and PowerPoint. I also can talk without any kind of digital presentation if that’s what you’d like.
It doesn’t matter if the group is large or small, I love talking to them.
I customize each speech or talk I give to the audience I’m addressing. I know some speakers have talks you can buy directly, but I work best on the fly and when things are different each time. While I am well versed on everything related to crafts and handmade businesses, I also love talking about:
- Creative Communities – how to build and engage them
- Creative Business Topics – like social media and marketing
- Inspirational Themes – getting through fears that hold back our creativity and keep us away from our dreams and how to just get started is one of my favorite topics
- Productivity for Creatives – I am passionate about not only the work we do but HOW we do it
- How To Be A Good Boss To Yourself – Almost all creative entrepreneurs struggle with this, I am thrilled to help them reframe and re-aim their intentions and systems
If the needs of your company or small business, organization or school aren’t listed here, that’s okay. Get in touch and we can have a brief conversation to decide if I’m a good fit for your needs.
If you’d like to discuss having me come to you or your group, please use my contact form. You’ll get a return response quickly and we can get to work right away.
